Chocolate Covered Fruit, A Kid-Friendly Recipe
Recipe List
A Jessica Siegel & Kid-Friendly Recipe
Serves 10

ids love chocolate, and if you're lucky, they like fruit. Allowing them to cover their fruit with a delicious chocolate shell will definitely get them excited. It's best to use fruit that you can hold easily from one end and is very dry on the outside, like strawberries, bananas, orange segments, and grapes.

    You will need:
  • A microwave-safe bowl
  • A microwave oven
  • A spoon
  • Wax paper
  • A cookie sheet
    Ingredients:
  • 1 pint strawberries
  • 1 small bunch grapes, cut into tiny bunches of 3 or 4
  • 3 baby bananas
  • 1 cup Nestlé Toll House semi-sweet chocolate morsels (6 ounces)
    Instructions:
  1. Wash and dry the strawberries and grapes very well with paper towels. If there is any water on them, the chocolate will not stick!

  2. Peel the bananas.

  3. Measure out 1 cup of chocolate chips. Put chocolate chips in the bowl and microwave the chocolate on high for 1 minute. Remove bowl from microwave and stir the chocolate very well. It won't be very melted yet. Put the bowl back in the microwave and cook for 25 more seconds. Take it out and stir it. Put the bowl back in one more time and microwave about 20 more seconds. Take it out and stir it. The chocolate should be all melted. If it's not, cook it for 15 more seconds.

  4. Place a sheet of wax paper on a cookie sheet.

  5. Hold a strawberry by the stem and dip most of it in the chocolate to coat it. Lift it out and let some of the chocolate drip off back into the bowl. Place the strawberry on the wax paper. Repeat with the rest of the strawberries, grapes, and bananas. When all the fruit is dipped, put them in the refrigerator so the chocolate hardens, about 1 hour.
