Tomato Stacks, a kid-friendly recipe *
Yhese sandwiches are fun to make because they look like round stacks and they taste great! Make sure you choose a firm tomato so that you can cut it easily. Eat your tomato stack for a snack or take it to school with you for lunch. - Jessica Siegel, Registered Dietitian You will need:A tomato knife ♦ A paper towel
– Use a biscuit cutter or turn the glass upside down to cut a big circle out of the center of each slice of bread. –Use a knife to spread all of the cheese on one of the bread circles. – Measure out 1 tablespoon of the yogurt and spread it on the other bread circle. –Turn the tomato on its side and carefully slice downward to cut the bottom off. With the next slice, cut a ½-inch thick slice off the tomato. Use a paper towel to blot the moisture off both sides of the tomato slice. Put the slice on top of the cheese side of the bread. –Place a medium basil leaf on top of the tomato (don't be afraid of the basil, it makes the sandwich taste great). –Put the yogurt side of the bread on top of the tomato. Make sure everything lines up like a perfect stack. |
