his is the Haroset I used to help my grandfather make each year when I was a little girl. It looks like mortar, but has a light texture and a fresh flavor.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons Flanigan Farms chopped walnuts, lightly toasted
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4-5 tablespoons Manischewitz Concord Grape wine
- 2 Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored, and quartered
- 1 Pink Lady apple, peeled, cored, and quartered, half reserved
Instructions:
In a food processor, pulse 3/4 cup nuts with the sugar and cinnamon until fine. Pour in 3 or 4 tablespoons of wine and add all the apple pieces, except for the reserved half. Process until it looks like mortar, adding more wine if necessary.
Grate the Pink Lady apple half on the large holes of a grater. Transfer haroset to a bowl and mix in remaining grated apple and 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts. Serve cold or at room temperature.
