On July 4th, it’s all about celebrating America’s independence with family, friends, food, and fireworks. And just like any fabulous birthday party, this is an event that should toast the guest of honor (our country, of course!) with an incredibly festive cocktail or two.

Best 4th of July Cocktail Recipes

Whether you’re planning a casual backyard barbecue or a more formal get-together, we’ve rounded up our favorite ideas for cocktail recipes for the Fourth of July. So, grab your cocktail shaker and some fresh ice and get ready to mix it up with delightful drinks this summer.

If bubbly and bitter is your style, look no further than this refreshing beverage. A combination of club soda, Campari, and sweet vermouth makes for an easy but flavorful cocktail, pairing perfectly with your favorite cookout dishes. Plus, its relatively low alcohol content makes the Americano an ideal daytime drink.

Big Red

Few drinks are considered more American than a classic beer, and this one is usually made with one of the top brands in the U.S.: Budweiser. One part Budweiser, one part ginger beer, and one part scotch whiskey is mixed, then served over ice in a Collins glass. For a festive touch, add colorful straws in shades of red, white, and blue!

White Summer Sazerac

The inspiration for this summertime drink is a classic cocktail that hails from New Orleans. Notably spirit-forward with just the right hint of sweetness, it’s made with a combination of moonshine (white corn whiskey), rye whiskey, brandy, aperitivo, and a few spritzes of absinthe. Some simple syrup and fennel and celery bitters round out the flavor profile, and the drink is served in a chilled rocks glass.

Set off some sparks for your tastebuds with this slightly spicy drink. Muddled watermelon brings a burst of summertime flavor to the Firecracker, along with an unmistakable America-red hue. Shake it up with fresh ice and some rum, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup, and a dash of cayenne pepper; then, serve in a margarita glass.

Boozy Root Beer Float

Enjoy a taste of nostalgia with this adults-only take on a childhood classic. In this version, an ounce of rum is added to the pairing of vanilla ice cream and root beer. Start with a generous scoop of ice cream in a tall glass, top it with the rum, then slowly fill the glass with root beer and give a quick but careful stir.

It doesn’t get any easier than the Beermosa, a two-ingredient drink that your guests are sure to love. Pour 12 ounces of your preferred light lager into a chilled beer glass, then top it off with 4 ounces of orange juice and enjoy!

The legendary President Theodore Roosevelt might not have been much of a drinker, but he was said to enjoy a celebratory cocktail every now and again. This cocktail imagines what Roosevelt might be seen sipping if he were to make an appearance at your backyard get-together. Dark rum, dry vermouth, sugar, and freshly-squeezed orange juice are the key ingredients in this party-friendly drink.

Red, White, & Night

If your guests tend to choose wine over cocktails, this could be the drink that converts them once and for all. Cabernet Sauvignon wine, vodka, simple syrup, and lemon juice are shaken, then poured into a highball glass with ice, then garnished with some sugared blueberries for a patriotic pop of color.

Lady in Blue

You’ve heard of a White Lady cocktail, but what about a Lady in Blue? With a bright blue color from its star ingredient, blue curaçao, this drink also includes gin, crème de violette, lemon juice, simple syrup, and orange flower water. Garnish with red or white edible flowers, and you have a cocktail that will show off your American spirit.

Rocket Jello Shots

Forget the jello shots of your youth; this version is much tastier - and more stylish. Layers of red, white, and blue jello are infused with vodka for a creative and casual cocktail. Put a sparkler-style candle on top of each shot, then bring out the tray to really impress your guests.

French 75

Serving a French-inspired cocktail on the Fourth might seem untraditional, but one sip will have you thinking otherwise. Simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and gin are shaken up with champagne (or your preferred sparkling wine) for a light, crisp cocktail.

Bourbon Strawberry Iced Tea

Iced tea will always be an iconic summertime beverage, and this version elevates the recipe with fresh lemon juice, bourbon, and simple syrup. Fresh strawberries, mint, and blueberries add both flavor and color to this thirst-quenching cocktail.
