Place fresh or frozen cherries in a bowl and toss with amaretto. Let stand 20 minutes, at least until frozen cherries defrost, stirring occasionally. Drain any liquid from them.
Preheat oven to 300 Fahrenheit.
Divide cherries among three cup ramekins. Cover and smooth the tops of each ramekin with two tablespoons of sour cream. Sprinkle the tops of each with two teaspoons of brown sugar.
Place ramekins on a heavy baking sheet or oven proof dish. Bake for 11 to 13 minutes, until sugar melts. Serve immediately.
