Granny's Organic Applesauce

Serves: 16

Ingredients

Ingredients
4 large organic Fuji apples about 2 pounds washed
2 organic Pink Lady apples about 1 pound washed
1/2 to 3/4 cup water
1/3 cup Hain organic sugar
1/2 fresh lemon juiced about 2 tablespoons
1 generous cup Cascadian Farms organic frozen strawberries

Directions

Use an apple wedger to cut each apple into 8 wedges with skin on. A knife works well too. Place the apples in a medium sized saucepan. Add about 1/2 cup water. Cover and cook on high about 10 minutes, until the juices are just about covering the apples. Stir occasionally and add more water if it seems too dry.

At this liquidy stage, add the sugar, lemon juice, and strawberries. Stir well, reduce heat to medium, cover and cook about 10 to 20 more minutes, until the apples are really soft. Stir occasionally and add more water if it is getting too dry. There should always be a little liquid on the bottom.

Remove from heat and transfer half of the fruit to a blender. Chop or blend until smooth. Repeat with the rest of the apples. Taste the sauce, adjust the lemon juice if needed. If it is too dry for your taste, stir in a little water to thin it out. Refrigerate to cool.
