Measure 8 teaspoon or just a pinch of salt into the bowl. Carefully measure out 2 teaspoons of canola oil into the bowl.

Use your 1/4 cup measuring cup to measure the popcorn kernels into the bowl. Use your spoon to mix everything together.
Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Make sure that the whole opening of the bowl is covered and that the plastic wrap is not saggy or loose over the top.
Use the pointed knife to carefully poke 5 small holes in the plastic wrap.
Place the bowl in the microwave and set the timer on high for 6 minutes. After about 3 minutes start to listen for popping sounds. Theyll get fast and then start to slow down. When you can count to 4 in between pops, turn off the microwave.
Use your oven mitts to take the bowl out of the microwave and place it on a clean, dry surface. Keep your mitts on when you take the plastic off or just use the pointed knife to cut an opening in the plastic. Eat your popcorn within a day.
