9 Creative Hatch Chile Recipes

We love cooking with Hatch chiles! They have a savory pungency and a subtle, smoky heat that really elevate a dish. 

In celebration of this year’s fantastic crop of chiles, almost every department at Gelson’s has been preparing delicious dishes featuring these peppers. You can find everything from cornbread and mini quiches to flank steak rolls and crab cakes. Of course, we are also roasting large batches of chiles, so you can take home a case (or two!) of mild or hot roasted Hatch chiles to incorporate into your own cooking. 

Many people like to divide their Hatch chiles into 1-pound portions and freeze them, allowing for year-round use. We wholeheartedly support this practice! We have our own stash (lots of bags) in the test kitchen's chest freezer, and we enjoy experimenting with new recipes using these chiles.
